The organizing team of the PERLEN - Queer Film Festival Hannover currently consists of 10 film-loving queer people with a wide variety of orientations and gender identities and, with a lot of commitment, competence and passion, they prepare and carry out the festival on a voluntary basis.

We research, view and discuss a variety of feature films, documentaries and short films on lesbian, gay, non-binary, trans*, intersex and gender topics. When selecting films, it is important to us to have a broad range of content, nations and film genres as possible, political content is also very important here.Once the films have been selected for the festival and requested from the distributors and filmmakers, the second phase of teamwork begins: We write texts for the program booklet, contact festival guests, film sponsors and cooperation partners, translate and convert subtitles and perform preparatory work for the opening event, the awarding of our audience award and the closing party.

During the festival season in autumn you will meet us in the cinema in the Künstlerhaus, where we give introductions to the performances, interview guests, hand out the ballot papers for the “Golden Pearl” audience award and, on the final day of the festival, ceremoniously announce the winners and present the raffle prizes give away the audience.

In addition, every year after Pentecost, following the CSD Hannover, we present our small film series “Sommerperlen”, that aims to whet the appetite for the autumn festival.
